German forward Burkat moved to Frankfurt this summer and immediately showed his ability here. He has scored 9 goals in 14 games. In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, Burkart discussed his changing role at Eintracht Frankfurt, his place in the national team, his ambitious goals and Harry Kane.
- On his change in role as a striker after moving from Mainz to Eintracht Frankfurt:
Burkart: "There are less long balls, less aerial confrontations - at least in most cases. And I am now more of a striker involved in the build-up. Our game is different overall, so my positioning has also changed."
- About Frankfurt coach Topmoeller:
Burkart: "I do think he has a special knack for this. He brings a lot of good ideas, including his own experience as a striker, and looks at the whole problem from a striker's perspective. He always has one or two good suggestions about movement that help our game. That's why I come here, because I know he can work with the forwards very, very well."
- On his current status in the German national team:
Burkart: "It's a challenger. I just try to perform as best as possible, give it my all in training, and then I hope to get another chance to play in the next games. But I am very happy to be there and I am already looking forward to this time."
- On the upcoming 2026 World Cup:
Burkart: "That would be a dream. It's still far away, but of course it's a lofty goal that every German player should have. I hope I can maintain my current form so that I can participate in the World Cup by then."
- About Harry Kane and his characteristics:
Burkat: "I think his work without the ball is particularly special. He is involved in a lot of defense and is very involved. When the best striker in the Bundesliga returns to defend like this, it brings a lot to the team. In addition, his shooting is very good and he also has good vision when he gets the ball. I think he is a good reference object and a great role model."
- On what would have to happen for him to use social media:
Burkart: "It's hard to say. I don't know what would have to happen. I can't imagine myself being on there at the moment - but who knows."
