Durant: James Harden is my real brother, I’ve known him since we were 19 or 20 years old

In the second season of "Starting 5", Durant was asked if his relationship with Harden was still close.

Durant said: "He is really my brother. We really play together a lot, you know what I mean? It started when we were 19 or 20 years old."

Durant recalled his first encounter with Harden, when Durant was a freshman at the University of Texas and Harden had just finished his senior year of high school. Durant said he and fellow freshman All-American Greg Oden went to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Harden's hometown of Los Angeles, and Harden, a McDonald's high school All-American, showed up and hung out with them.

"That's when it all started," Durant said. "I don't know if I ever told him, or if he remembers it, but I was like, 'Well, he's one of us.'"

Durant and Harden were very close early in their careers as teammates with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although their reunion with the Brooklyn Nets didn't go smoothly, and it was briefly thought that their relationship might have soured, that's apparently not the case.
