The Times reported that clubs such as Leverkusen and Dortmund are competing for Manchester City winger McCarthy.
It is reported that McCarthy is expected to leave Manchester City this summer, and he is attracting interest from clubs including Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Red Bull Leipzig. Five German clubs, including Leverkusen and Dortmund, are considering bidding for McCarty, with Manchester City valuing him more than £25 million.
22-year-old McCarty has one year left to expire in the current contract with Manchester City, and Dortmund is about to obtain funds by selling Gittens to Chelsea for about £50 million. Given McCarty's age and talent, they see him as an ideal signing. Guardiola had hoped to keep McCarty this summer, but the midfielder was not sure if he could get a stable playing time and was open to the transfer.
McCarty made 27 appearances for Manchester City (18 substitutes) last season and scored 7 goals, including a hat-trick in the third round of the FA Cup. He and Drapp Jr., Palmer and Baylis are all from Manchester City youth teams.
If McCarty eventually leaves the team as expected, Manchester City will try to include a buyback clause in the deal. He had previously requested not to be selected for Manchester City's Club World Cup lineup in order to participate in the European Youth Championship. The English youth team had just defeated the German youth team 3-2 in the final to win the championship.
