Spanish footballer: Tebas intimidation & pressure destroys Nico s transfer to Barcelona

Chairman of the Spanish National Coach Training Center Miguel Garland publicly accused La Liga president Tebas of his responsibility for Nico Williams' failure to transfer to Barcelona. After a long transfer tug-of-war, the winger eventually renewed her contract with Athletic Bilbao until 2035.

La Liga implements a fiscal fair policy, and the core controversy lies in whether Barcelona has the conditions to pay a termination fee of about 60 million euros. Athletic Bilbao has previously submitted inquiries to La Liga to ensure that potential transfers comply with league financial regulations.

Miguel Garland accused: "Tebas publicly stated as the chairman of La Liga that Barcelona could not register Nico Williams and held a meeting with Athletic Bilbao, during which it was suspected of leaking confidential information. In this context, the agent of the player affected and intimidated by Tebas requested to join the termination clause in order to prevent the registration failure."

Olmo missed several games due to registration issues last season. Similar clauses proposed by Nico Williams' agent could have provided protection for players, but Garland said: "Barcelona chairman Laporta believes that the clause may cause the club to bear the risk of 60 million euros in losses, so he rejected this requirement."

Garland also pointed out that the conditions proposed by Nico's agent are unacceptable, requiring Barcelona to complete registration before the July deadline, which ultimately led to a miscarriage of the transaction. He said: "This agent became a key factor in overwhelming a deal that was close to completion, and his behavior was essentially to safeguard the interests of Athletic Bilbao, especially considering his financial interest relationship with other players in the club."
