According to the Turin Sports Daily, Inter Milan has notified Akanji's agency to buy out him.

Akanji took only one month to firmly occupy Inter Milan's main position and conquered the entire Blue and Black world more comprehensively, from the club management to the head coach Ziwo, to the fans: everyone is already fascinated by this Swiss central defender. In just a few weeks, Akanji almost completely erased the presence of his ex Paval. It sounds incredible, but it is something that really happened.

Akanji's outstanding performance was indispensable. He demonstrated strong leadership and excellent organization and playoff skills, becoming an indispensable part of Inter Milan's tactical system. These qualities quickly attracted Inter Milan's attention and conquered the entire internal environment.

Therefore, Marotta and Osilio have officially notified the player's agency that they want to sign Akanji forever regardless of whether the buyout clause is forced to be triggered or not.

According to the agreement, if Inter Milan wins the Serie A championship this season and Akanji plays at least 50% of the games, the buyout clause (15 million euros) will automatically take effect. The two parties have reached an agreement on a long-term contract with an annual salary of 4.5 million euros to 2028.

Inter Defence Change

Now it seems that Akanji's stay in the team is almost just a symbolic formality in the next few months, and Inter hopes to fund the operation by selling Paval to Marseille at the same price (15 million euros).

Marseille does not have a mandatory buyout obligation, but it can decide at its own discretion to activate the buyout clause after the end of the season. It feels like Paval has become an indispensable player under head coach Dezelby, so this deal has a great chance of reaching in 2026.

At the same time, Inter Milan will also be very active in the signing of the back line next summer. Both Archerby and Devrey's contracts are about to expire, and sports director Osilio and the scout team are looking for replacements in advance.

The players currently focused on Inter Milan's database include Bruges' Odonetz, Udinese's old target Soler, and Wolfsburg's new star Kulierakis.

In addition, there are two new defenders who have entered Inter radar. They both play for Sassuolo, not only teammates, but also the key targets of current inspections. One is already on the observation list, and the other is recently included in the shortlist, namely Muharemovich and Jay Izes.
