At the pre-match press conference for Inter Milan’s away game against San Giros United in the Champions League, Inter Milan head coach Chivu attended the press conference. He discussed the team's goals, player rotation and Marcus Thuram's injury.

Do you want to replicate last season’s achievements?

Chivu: We have always said that we have an obligation to think bigger. But there is still a long way to go from words to actions. We have a club that supports us and we have to be the best version of ourselves to still compete in all competitions next spring.

What should you avoid now?

Chivu: Need to maintain enthusiasm and try to avoid mistakes. We have put in some good performances and we have the ambition to keep going. Of course, negative moments can come.

Are Pio and Boni likely to start?

Chivu: Then I have to tell you the lineup. For me, there is no such thing as a regular starter, and I've been repeating this for months. If I don't, I'm incoherent. I trust all the players I have and anyone can start. I'm grateful to have a team that allows me to advance a work that I believe in so deeply. Everyone has something to contribute to the game and the journey as a whole: I wake up in the morning in a good mood when I see everyone happy.

How is Lautaro doing? At what stage of Thuram's recovery?

Chivu: Lautaro is in good condition. The problems he encountered before playing against Roma are gone. His cold has also gone away and he is recovering well. Marcus (Thuram) needs a few days, I don’t know what to tell you. We are working hard to get him back as quickly as possible. It seems that he will not be able to play in the game against Naples.

What kind of team will we face tomorrow?

Chivu: This team is very aggressive and likes to press high. I don’t know if that will change when they play us. But I don't think they'll completely change their character. They already have three points in the Champions League and are top of their league. They beat PSV and the one against Newcastle was an accident.

Is tomorrow's game more important than the game against Napoli?

Chivu: We consider the games one by one, and the Champions League cannot be underestimated. Reaching the Champions League final is no small thing. We know what it means to play in the Champions League and we have to defend our history.

What is missing in your vision of Inter Milan?

Chivu: I only lack tomorrow’s game, I don’t consider the league. Tomorrow is as important as all the upcoming and previous Champions League games. We want to defend our honor.
